On September 18, 2025, DAS Aviation Academy officially inaugurated its newly expanded training facilities in Langen. The event was attended by international guests from over ten countries, including Iceland, Malta, Hungary, Uzbekistan, and the United Arab Emirates, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing development of air traffic controller training.
The opening ceremony was led by Arndt Schoenemann, Managing Director of DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH; Andreas Pötzsch, Managing Director of DFS Aviation Services; and Sabine Räk, Head of Training, who collectively symbolically cut the ribbon to signify the opening. Following the formal ceremony, attendees enjoyed a networking reception before the presentation of the new training programs.
Highlights included tours of the state-of-the-art facilities and training areas, such as modern classrooms, 270° tower simulators, a FEAST testing room, simulation pilot rooms, and several lounge spaces. Presentations from the Consulting & Projects and Training departments provided valuable insights into current initiatives and the diverse range of offerings at the Academy. The program concluded with visits to the 3D-I simulator and exclusive tours of the DFS Area Control Center (ACC).
“With the expansion of our Academy, we are establishing optimal conditions for training aspiring air traffic controllers,” stated Andreas Pötzsch. “The strong international attendance at the opening demonstrates the global interest in our training programs.”
