Apron Management Services

Turning apron complexity into performance

Apron Management Services (AMS) help airports turn apron complexity into safer, smoother and more efficient operations. By coordinating apron movements and reducing the risk of collisions with aircraft and obstacles, AMS protect on-time performance and unlock greater use of existing airport capacity.

DAS provides Apron Management Services around the world that optimise apron and airside operations, helping airports and aerodrome operators run safer, faster, and more predictable turnarounds. Our AMS approach coordinates aircraft stand planning, apron movements, and stakeholder communication to reduce delays, improve situational awareness, and support compliance with applicable safety and aerodrome requirements worldwide.

Apron Management Services create the transparency, prioritisation and coordination to keep airport operations safe, efficient and on time.

(Digital) Apron Control Services at Jorge Chaves International Airport

Takeover of Apron Services and transition to Digital Apron Services as part of the new terminal opening

Perú, Lima

In February 2023, DFS Aviation Services (DAS) started its Apron Services at Jorge Chaves International Airport on behalf of Lima Airport Partners (LAP), operator of the airport and part of the Fraport Group. Its main tasks include the management of taxiing traffic and the allocation of positions at the airport.

With the opening of the new terminal of Jorge Chaves International Airport in June 2025, DAS also opened the new and first Digital Apron Management Center in Latin America with a high-tec digital Apron Management System. The system allows the apron operators to monitor and manage the apron operations from the terminal with the aid of cameras. The implementation of the technology represents a significant milestone in Lima Airport’s journey toward operational excellence.

Apron Management Services at small and medium-sized airports in Germany

Professional AMS from an experienced Air Navigation Service Provider, the DFS Group

Germany

In Germany, the control of apron traffic is the primary responsibility of the airport operator, but it can also be carried out by external providers, such as the air navigation service provider.

The DFS Group can draw on many years of experience in this field at airports of all sizes and complexities. You will be able to benefit from considerable synergy effects.

The air traffic controllers of the DFS Group would be happy to ensure the optimal handling of apron traffic at your airport.
