The protection of your personal data and your privacy are very important to us. Of course, we comply with the applicable legal provisions and would like to inform you below about everything important regarding the protection of your personal data on our website.

1. Legal basis
We base the processing and protection of data on our websites in particular on Article 6(1) (b) and (f) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Collection of general data in server logfiles
When you access our website, information of a general nature is automatically transmitted from your web browser to us or our web host/IT service provider. This information (server log files) includes, for example, the type of web browser, the operating system used, the requested provider, the name of the page accessed, the shortened IP address (without the last two characters) and the amount of data transferred. This is exclusively information that does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about your person. This information is technically necessary in order to correctly deliver the contents of websites requested by you.

The log files are regularly deleted by our web hoster after 7 days.

3. Right to disclosure, correction, deletion or limitation of processing of personal data
You have the right to receive information about your personal data stored by us at any time and, if necessary, to correction, restriction of processing or the prescribed data storage for business transactions. You also have the right to delete your personal data unless this is contrary to legal requirements or contrary to the fulfillment of contracts. In addition, you have the right to appeal to an authority.

You can revoke your consent by notifying us accordingly, with future effect.

4. Purposes of data processing undertaken by the controller and third parties
We process your personal data only for the purposes stated in this data protection declaration. Your personal data will not be passed on to third parties for purposes other than those mentioned. We will only pass on your personal data to third parties if:

  • You have given your explicit consent.
  • Processing is necessary to conclude a contract with you.
  • The processing is necessary to fulfil a legal obligation.
  • The processing is necessary to protect legitimate interests and there is no reason to believe that you have an overriding interest worthy of protection in not disclosing your data.
  • The forwarding within the DFS Group is necessary to fulfil the purpose.

5. Deletion of data, Duration of storage
We adhere to the principles of storage limitation. We only store your personal data for as long as is necessary to achieve the purposes stated here or as provided for by law. After the purpose has been achieved or these periods have expired, the data will be blocked or deleted as a routine matter and in accordance with legal provisions.

If it is in the sense of our customers and with knowledge of the person concerned, and/or a justified interest of DFS Aviation Services is present, personal data are processed if necessary longer, or until revocation by the person concerned.

The server log files collected on our site are regularly deleted by our web hoster after seven days (see also 2.).

Application documents are kept for six months and will be destroyed then. Your data will only be stored in our applicant pool for a longer period at your express request. Oral statements cannot be considered because accountability must be demonstrated (General Data Protection Regulation 5(2)).

6. Cookies – you have full control
Like most websites, we also use cookies. Cookies are small text files that are transferred from a website server to your hard drive. As a result, we automatically receive certain data such as IP address, browser used, operating system and your connection to the internet.

The information contained in cookies enables us to present our website to you in a user-friendly, effective and secure manner. Cookies cannot be used to start programs or to transmit viruses to a computer.

Of course, you have full control over the cookies that are stored on your computer. You can already set your internet browser (e.g. Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc.) to determine how you want to handle cookies and the information they transmit. There you can, for example, activate the automatic deletion of cookies after each session or set a notification when a site tries to set cookies and thus actively manage this.

By displaying our cookie banner when you visit our site, you also tell us which cookies you allow us to use. Please note that individual functions of our website may not work if you object to the use of cookies. The essential cookies in particular are necessary for the correct display of our website.

In general, there exist following categories of Cookies:

  • Essential Cookies: These only help to make a website technically usable, e.g. page navigation or access to secure areas.
  • Preference Cookies: These cookies help the website to recognise your preferred basic page views and settings, e.g. language or region.
  • Statistics Cookies: Statistics cookies help the website provider to recognise how visitors behave on the website, how they interact with it. The information is collected anonymously.
  • Marketing Cookies: These cookies are used to follow website visitors and to show them content that is relevant to them, e.g. through advertising banners/ads. This makes personalised advertising possible.
  • Not classified: There are also cookies, e.g. individual cookies, which are not yet officially categorised.

7. SSL encryption
To protect the security of your data during transmission, we use state-of-the-art encryption methods (e.g. SSL) via HTTPS.

11. Embedded YouTube videos
11.1 Nature and purpose of the processing:
On some of our websites we embed YouTube videos. YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA (hereinafter “YouTube”) is the operator of the corresponding plugins. When you visit a page with the YouTube plugin, a connection to YouTube servers is established. This will tell YouTube which pages you are visiting. If you are logged into your YouTube account, YouTube can personally associate your browsing behavior with you. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account beforehand. If a YouTube video is started, the provider uses cookies that collect information about user behavior.

Further information on the purpose and scope of data collection and processing by YouTube can be found in the provider’s privacy policy, where you will also find further information on your rights in this regard and setting options to protect your privacy. Google processes your data in the USA.

11.2 Legal basis
Legal basis for the integration of YouTube and the associated data transfer to Google is your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO).

11.3 Recipient
Calling YouTube automatically triggers a connection to Google.

11.4 Storage period and revocation of consent
If you have deactivated the storage of cookies for the Google Ad Programme, you will not have to reckon with any such cookies when watching YouTube videos. However, YouTube also stores non-personal usage information in other cookies. If you wish to prevent this, you must block the storage of cookies in your browser.

You can find further information on data protection at “YouTube” in the provider’s data protection declaration.

11.5 Third country transfer
Google processes your data in the USA.

11.6 Provision required or required
The provision of your personal data is voluntary, solely on the basis of your consent. If you block access, this may restrict the functionality of the website.

12. Social Plugins
Nature and purpose of the processing:
On our website we offer the possibility of using so-called “social media buttons”. To protect your data, we use the “Shariff” solution during implementation. This means that these buttons on the website are only integrated as a graphic, which contains a link to the corresponding website of the button provider. By clicking on the graphic you will be forwarded to the services of the respective provider. Only then your data will be sent to the respective providers. If you do not click on the graphic, there will be no data exchange between you and the social network providers. Information about the collection and use of your data in the social networks can be found in the respective terms of use of the respective providers.

More information about the Shariff solution can be found here (german source).
